We know that in a vacuum or in a homogeneous medium, light travels in a straight line. If light shines in water, it will refract. When people wash clothes on the riverside, when the sun is shining on the soap bubbles or on the dirty oil layer on the river, they will see the rainbow like color. After the summer rain, there is sometimes a brilliant rainbow in the sky. This is because after the rain, there are still countless tiny water drops in the sky. When the sun light shoots into these water drops at a certain angle, it will cause two refractions and one total reflection. The light from the water drops will radiate into red, orange, yellow, green, green, blue, purple and other colors. When we look at these water drops with our back to the sun, we will see a circular arc-shaped color light band. The phenomenon that sunlight diffuses into various colored light after two refractions is called dispersion of light.

With the development of science and technology, people gradually realize that light is a kind of electromagnetic wave that can cause vision. In the whole electromagnetic spectrum, only a very narrow part of the human eye can see that different wavelengths of light can cause different vision.
