What is tribological coating?

Tribological coatings are coatings that are applied to surfaces in order to reduce friction and wear between two moving surfaces. They can be applied to metal, plastic or ceramic surfaces to improve their performance in tribological systems such as bearings, gears and engines. The term "tribology" refers to the study of friction, wear, and lubrication of interacting surfaces.
